Since the school year started early, that also meant that spring break was early, which meant that it didn’t coincide with Easter. Since we had Good Friday off from school, we decided to road trip to Delaware. Paul took us out to dinner at The Chesapeake Inn Friday night. It was fun catching up with everyone. Jay enjoyed hanging out with Landon and Stella over the weekend. Saturday, we had a traditional Easter meal.

For several months, Kristie has wanted to go bowling. Mother’s Day was the time for her to get her wish. We had a great afternoon bowling at Bowlero and bowled until we felt like our arms were going to fall off.

As the school year wrapped up, we experienced a major milestone. This little fellow:

graduated from high school! It was a very special day. He will be attending Western Carolina University in the fall. Go Catamounts!

Kristie and Ansel kicked off the summer with a work trip to Wyoming. Ansel got her driver’s permit and the wide open spaces were perfect for her to practice driving. Ansel’s Recap: Ansel and Kristie started off the trip in Salt Lake City, Utah where they picked up their Kia Soul, and as they were traveling through the Salt Lake, they stopped and got sushi and then went up to the mountains and passed by a moose. (editor’s note: This concluded the extent of Ansel’s Recap. Perhaps Kristie will add more later.)

While the girls were recovering, Jay kicked off his summer by attending the Beta Bash Motorcycle Rally hosted by the Mountain View Motorcycle Campground. He enjoyed making some new friends and learning about some new trails in the Roan Mountain area.
Our next project was painting the cabin. It took two and a half days of hard work, but we painted the trim work and the walls giving it a much brighter feel.
Kristie and Ansel drove up to Delaware for Aunt Frannie’s birthday and enjoyed making Jay jealous by sending him pictures and details about all the seafood they were eating.
